ASHLEY KNOWS WHAT IT’S LIKE TO GET A GOOD EDUCATION AND WANTS EVERYONE TO HAVE THE CHANCE TO SUCCEED

The product of a public school education, Ashley knows what it’s like to work hard to succeed. She was the first in her immediate family to graduate from college and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland, College Park. After college, while working full time, Ashley decided to pursue her law degree at night. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Baltimore School of Law and spent time studying at the Catholic University of America Columbus School of Law in Washington, DC. Ashley now works at a nonprofit whose mission is to help improve the lives of women and families.

ASHLEY IS A LEADER IN THE DC COMMUNITY

Ashley was a founding volunteer for a reading program at DC General and has volunteered with several area nonprofits to improve literacy skills and children’s education in DC including the Junior League of Washington, The Literacy Lab, Turning the Page, and Bright Beginnings. Ashley has worked with both children and adults to help close the achievement gap in our city, leading to stronger futures and more successful outcomes in life.

ASHLEY IS PASSIONATE ABOUT IMPROVING THE EDUCATION GAP IN THE CITY

Ashley has spent time working with children at the Excel Academy and the Washington School for Girls to improve literacy and life skills. She wants to expand this work to all schools and all children across the District of Columbia.

ASHLEY WANTS CHANGE FOR ALL

After living and working in the district for the past 10 years, Ashley wants to build a family and her future in the city. Changing our schools and the stigma associated with them will take time, and better schools will keep good tax-paying families from moving to our neighboring states of Maryland and Virginia.
